Lots has happened since we posted last.

Here is a quick rundown:

Brandon and I decided many months ago that we wanted to move out to Fort Wayne to hopefully find jobs we love in a town that was growing (We still love you Cleveland, but your job market stinks!) and to be closer to at least one branch of our family.

Brandon was hired on at Asher Agency in the beginning of November, leaving me behind in Cleveland to pack up our house and work my last two weeks at Cleveland Magazine. In mid-November, I came out to The Fort with pups in tow to join the family.

On December 13, Brandon and I got engaged. Hooray! We set a date for October 31, 2009. Our wedding will be at the Quaker Square Inn in Akron. I'm working on a wedding website and will link it to this blog when it's finished.

On Friday of last week, I was hired on at Fort Wayne Magazine. I cannot WAIT to start working again. Although I love being home during the day with the puppies, I must admit, I'm going crazy not designing or being around people all day. This Monday is my first day. Double hooray!

Finally someone who feels the same way about the BCS as we do.

We celebrated Brandon's birthday in Toledo last weekend and had a blast. Friday night his mom made a delicious pot roast dinner and we got to visit with his grandparents. I hope you can help me here. The other day, I set off for work leaving my husband in the house watching the TV as usual. I hadn't driven more than a mile down the road when the engine conked out and the car shuddered to a halt. I walked back home to get my husband's help. When I got home I couldn't believe my eyes. He was in the bedroom with the neighbour's daughter. I am 32, my husband is 34, and the neighbour's daughter is 22. We have been married for 10 years.

When I confronted him, he broke down and admitted they had been having an affair for 6 months. I told him to stop or I would leave him. He was let go from his job six months ago and he says he has been feeling increasingly depressed & worthless. I love him very much, but ever since I gave him the ultimatum he has become increasingly distant. He won't go to counselling and I'm afraid I can't get through to him anymore.

Dear Heather,

A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be caused by a variety of faults with the engine. Start by checking that there is no debris in the fuel line. If it is clear, check the vacuum pipes and hoses on the intake manifold and also check all grounding wires. If none of these approaches solve the problem, it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing low delivery pressure to the injectors.

Six-month baby Julian

We had the pleasure of seeing baby Julian again last month and he has grown so much! He is already itching to start walking... and doing pretty well with some assistance! He's also a natural in front of the camera. As soon as you show it to him he stares right into the lens with those big blue eyes. We also got to visit with Brandon's sister Katie & her husband Albert who we hadn't seen since June. (Which actually isn't that long seeing as they live in North Dakota!)

We welcomed a brand new baby pup to our quickly growing family last night!

He is a Shorkie (half Shitzu, half Yorkshire Terrier) and he is such a little guy (only 3 pounds) and 12 weeks old! He came from a wonderful family who just didn't have the time to be home as much as he needed, and they were also excited for him to have a new big sister to play with all the time. Sadie is already in love with him :)

He follows Brandon around everywhere, and he slept next to him on his pillow all night. We are going tonight to get him some new toys and a gate so he doesn't have to be in his crate during the day. We are working on getting him and Sadie comfortable around each other so they can stay out of their crates all day and play together while we are at work :)

Shelters Report Increase in Adoptions

On April 4, "The Oprah Winfrey Show" spotlighted the puppy mill industry and how it affects animals and animal care organizations. Millions of viewers got a first-hand look at some of the deplorable practices mills used to mass-produce purebred puppies and designer dogs. The show also turned viewers’ attention toward shelter dogs. Now, shelters are reporting a noticeable increase in adoption interest.

In the weekend following the show, shelters across the United States saw an influx of visitors looking to give dogs and cats new homes.

The episode featured a report on the horrors of puppy mills by investigative reporter Lisa Ling, special correspondent for the "Oprah" show, a conversation with The Humane Society of the United States' President and CEO Wayne Pacelle, and animal advocate Bill Smith from MainLine Animal Rescue in Pennsylvania.

On its website, the Pennsylvania Dutch Convention and Visitors Bureau of Lancaster, Pa. (a county with a high concentration of puppy mills) also called for increased efforts to shut down puppy mills following the show.

The Office... times TWO?

NBC has finally given the go-ahead to the long-rumored spinoff of The Office!

The new series is expected to launch after NBC's broadcast of the Super Bowl on Feb. 1, 2008 and air after the original Office from 9-10 p.m. on Thursdays. I guess NBC has been developing an episode to serve as a backdoor pilot for a spinoff since last fall.
